Northwestern Mutual

An opportunity to redesign an interactive calculator that served as a catalyst to engage with a Financial Representative. By inputting key data (pre-filled when applicable), customers could begin to understand the cost implications of investing in their future self, in the event of an accident or illness.

Designing an immersive interface that would work well on both mobile and desktop breakpoints was intended to create a sense of focus and reduce cognitive overload.

Customers who had already created an online profile, or conducted business, would be able to view / edit the pre-populated information in an effort to make this a low-effort but high reward interaction.

Making a change to the data on the immersive experience would take place on a deeper overlay, continuing the trend of encouraging focus. When applicable, native controls, such as defaulting to the numeric keyboard was recommended.

A series of visual cards represented the different tiers of coverage that were potentially offered to customers. The primary CTA, reaching out to a Financial Representative, lead to the relationship building between customer and Financial Representative, which often led to customer satisfaction. This served as a major distinction between services offered by Northwestern Mutual, and the trending roboadvisors that were beginning to saturate the marketplace.
